The MAEPA programme provided a comprehensive overview of a wide range of ethical, philosophical and critical thinking theories. The course was enriching, and not only deepened my understanding of ethical frameworks but also equipped me with the tools to critically analyse and contribute to the field.

This voyage of learning has not only nurtured my capacity for discerning thought but has also played an instrumental role in refining the very essence of my character. As The Great Learning said, “What the Great Learning teaches, is to illustrate illustrious virtue; to renovate the people; and to rest in the highest excellence.” This learning experience has helped me establish a new direction for my life goals.

Master of Arts in Ethics and Public Affairs course in HKBU is unforgettable and fruitful. I gradually improved my logical thinking ability to be more systematic and dialectical, and able to think independently during the learning process. MAEPA's courses provide many different scholars' philosophical theories, and guide us to understand and apply them in the context of practical problems.

Professors extended the discussion to real-life study instead of focusing on the abstract level. The most important thing gained from this programme is the attitude of study, or even being a human. Keeping ourselves open-minded and pursuing truthfulness is very important in academic study and in daily life as well.
Graduation Year:2020
The biggest gain that the MAEPA programme has brought to me - a reasonable and systematic way of thinking. I am very grateful for the MAEPA programme and I really learned a lot from it. This knowledge has not only become a guide for my daily life, but also laid a solid foundation for my future academic life.

The program inspires us to critically consider philosophy and ethics from both theoretical and practical perspectives and encourages us to present our own views as well as listen to those of others, it accomplishes the progress of the ‘collision of ideas’, which is treasured for recognizing the truth and leading innovation.
Graduation Year:2019
This programme has enlightened me on analysing social issues and observing other things in regular daily life. I learnt that things especially the complicated social issues should be analysed by multiple perspectives. The interesting point of this programme is that it does not give students fish but it teaches us how to fish. This is a critical learning process that has a life-long benefit to one’s personal growth.
Graduation Year:2019
The course itself, while grounded in philosophical theories, was in fact very practical in terms of recognising and understanding real world problems and dilemmas. Ethics in today’s society may sometimes feel irrelevant, or perhaps unprofitable, but the chance to evaluate values and their value was invaluable in helping me build up some sort of compass, with which to navigate this complex and chaotic world.
Graduation Year:2018
I gained a lot from this programme as it provides me with a window to appreciate how ethical and philosophical thinkings shape our politics, economics, and culture. The theories taught in the programme also help me to dissect the origins of different disputes and conflicts in society and the standpoint held by various stakeholders in these disputes and conflicts. Studying this programme is one of the most enjoyable moment in my lifetime!
Graduation Year:2017
It's my honor that I have graduated in the Department of Religion and Philosophy, HKBU. I met knowledgeable professors, helpful teaching assistants, and energetic classmates here. I am so delighted to receive the scholastic award from the MAEPA program in this Department that my efforts were richly rewarded. It reminds me of what Wang Yangming, a famous philosopher in the Ming Dynasty, said, "Branches, leaves, flowers, and fruit come with the work of nourishing and caring."
Graduation Year:2016
I studied Biomedical Sciences as my bachelor degree and worked in laboratory for a few years. Thus, I got used to the "empirical" mindset and writing styles. The master program widen my horizon especially during my thesis writing. I can see how large the world of knowledge is through different books. I can freely express my views and arguments no matter how crazy they are. As long as they are logical and based on arguments, I can write whatever I want. In this learning process, I have a sense of freedom which cannot be found in scientific world under empirical framework.
Graduation Year:2015
I thoroughly enjoyed my post-graduate experience at Hong Kong Baptist University because of the impeccable community that fosters competent and prospective student with wide-ranging knowledge. There is no question that Department of Religion and Philosophy is a great department with great faculty who are enthusiastic and gifted.
